HARYANA JUDICIAL SERVICE EXAMINATION

Exam Pattern: The Exam Pattern will be as follows:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • A candidate needs to be a citizen of India.
  • A candidate needs to have the domicile of Haryana to get the reservation benefits.
  • Applicants must have completed an L.L.B from any recognized institute.
  • The age of the applicants must be between 21 years and 42 years.

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

  • The prelims exam shall be of objective type with multiple-choice questions.
  • The question paper of the preliminary examination consists of 125 questions, each with four marks.
  • The marking scheme of the Prelim’s exam is that each question carries four marks, and for each wrong answer, you get a -0.8 mark.
  • The syllabus includes questions about current events, Indian legal history, constitutional evolution, and statutes outlined in Civil Law.

MAINS EXAMINATION

  • The Mains exam will consist of written papers with descriptive or narrative/essay-type questions.
  • Each of the Mains written exams is of 3 hours duration. As per the Haryana Judiciary Exam Pattern, the Mains Haryana Judiciary Syllabus 2023 comprises five subjects:

VIVA VOCE (INTERVIEW):

  • For a candidate to be qualified for viva voce, they must secure a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in all the written examinations in Mains.
  • However, for the candidate belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates only (but not dependents of ESM), a minimum of 45% aggregate marks should be obtained for qualification.
  • The interview will be conducted only in English.
  • The interview is conducted to judge the personal qualities of the candidate.
  • The interview will relate to matters of general interest and will test the candidate’s alertness, intelligence, and general outlook.
  • It is mandatory to appear for viva voce/interview to be considered for the final selection.

Interview Syllabus

The Interview stage, carrying 100 marks, is the final step in the UP Judiciary selection process. This stage assesses the overall suitability of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service, focusing not only on legal knowledge but also on important personal attributes.

The interview panel evaluates candidates based on their:

  • Merit: The candidate’s legal knowledge and expertise.
  • Ability: The capacity to apply legal principles in practical situations.
  • Character and Personality: Professional ethics, communication skills, and demeanor.
  • Physique: General health and fitness required for judicial roles.

The marks from the Interview are added to the total marks scored in the written exams. The final ranking of candidates is determined by the combined score of both the written papers and the interview.

It’s important to note that the commission may not call candidates for an interview if their performance in the Law Papers does not meet the required standard.

RAJASTHAN JUDICIAL EXAMINATION

SELECTION PROCESS:

The Rajasthan Judicial Service Examination is conducted every year by the Rajasthan High Court for the recruitment to posts of Civil Judge cadre of the Rajasthan Judicial Services.

  • Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  • Main Examination (Subjective Type)
  • Interview

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION:

  • The Preliminary Examination shall be an objective type of examination in which 70% weightage will be given to the subjects prescribed in syllabus (Mains) for Law Paper I and II and 30% weightage shall be given to test proficiency in Hindi and English language.
  • The maximum marks for Preliminary Examination shall be 100 in which number of questions to be asked shall also be 100.

However, there shall be no negative marking for wrong answers in Preliminary Examination.

The Preliminary Examination shall be conducted on OMR Answer Sheets. The duration of Preliminary Examination shall be of 2 hours. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination shall not be counted for determining final merit.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • A candidate needs to be a citizen of India.
  • A candidate needs to have the domicile of Rajasthan to get the reservation benefits.
  • Applicants must have completed LL.B from any recognized institute.
  • The age of the applicants must be between 22 years and 35 years.
  • The upper age limit for women and physically disabled persons is extended to 40 years.

VIVA-VOCE (INTERVIEWS)

  • A personal Interview or Viva-voce is the third and final stage in the selection process for the RJS exam. The interview is conducted for a total of 35 marks.
  • In interviewing a candidate, the suitability for employment to the service shall be tested with reference to his record at the School, College and University, and his character, personality, address and physique.
  • The questions, which may be put to him, may be of a general nature and will not necessarily be academic or legal. The candidate will also be put questions to test his general knowledge including knowledge of current affairs and present-day problems.
  • Marks shall also be awarded for the candidate’s proficiency in the Rajasthani dialects and his knowledge of social customs of Rajasthan. The marks so awarded shall be added to the marks obtained in the written test by each candidate.

Educational Qualification

For U.G. Programme:
A candidate should have obtained Higher Secondary School/ Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC and ST candidates), as prescribed by the respective Statutes of the participating Universities.

For P.G. Programme:

A candidate should have obtained an LL.B./a five year integrated LL.B./any other equivalent degree in Law from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST candidates), as prescribed by the respective Statutes of the participating Universities.

Age

For U.G. Programme:

A candidate should be below 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2015 (22 years in case of SC/ST and Persons with Disability candidates, as prescribed by the respective Statutes of the participating Universities.

For P.G. Programme:

The participating Universities have not prescribed any upper age limit for PG Programmes.

As per the Statutes of respective participating Universities. Details may be seen in the prospectus of the respective University appended herewith.

• Those who are appearing in their Class 12th (For UG Programme) and LL.B./a five year integrated LL.B. (For PG Programme) or any other equivalent degree in Law for qualifying examination are eligible to appear in CLAT , Such candidates are required to produce evidence of passing of qualifying examination with minimum required percentage at the time of admission.
• The result of qualifying examination shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which, the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the Course.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India entrance examination conducted on rotation by 16 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to their under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes (LL.B. & LL.M.). The 16 participating NLUs in the order of their establishment are:
